Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) destroys disease and infection fighting cells within the human body and weakens the immune system. Getting tested is the only way of knowing if you have HIV.
Testing is:
- Confidential
- Free
- An identifier of potential risks for exposure
- A provider for risk reduction counseling

Sexually transmitted infections (STI) are the result of having unprotected sexual encounters with others. Many STIs are treatable and curable once they are identified through testing.
Choosing not to get tested can:
- Provide a platform for the infection to spread to others
- Potentially cause serious health issues over time.
- We provide testing for all sexually transmitted infections, and referral services for doctor provided treatment (see below for info on PrEP)
- Free Condoms always available

Drug abuse is one a major problem faced in the United States, and it most often leads to drug addiction. JH-ERC offers individuals who are abusing prescribed and non-prescribed substances with an opportunity to get assessed and linked to a treatment program or facility to aid in combating the abuse of substances.
Some common effects of drug abuse are:

JH-ERC is committed to referring and linking HIV positive clients into a medical care environment, or to re-engage HIV/AIDS clients into medical care services. Through linkage, HIV/AIDS positive clients will get the support needed to remain physically and mentally healthy while living with HIV/AIDS.

Outreach Services
HIV/AIDS is life-threatening and there is no cure. The only chance to reduce transmission is through education and awareness. JH-ERC will assist with minimizing the spread and effects of the disease through providing outreach service within the Northeast Florida community neighborhoods.

JH-ERC will be engaging with Northeast Florida community residents and businesses for the purpose of achieving long-term and sustainable outcomes, processes, relationships, and decision-making to support HIV/AIDS prevention, and other STIs prevention and awareness.

PrEP/PEP
A daily pill that HIV negative persons can be take to protect themselves from HIV, if you are:
- Using condoms seldom or not at all
- Having sex with more than one partner
- Having sex with people whose HIV status is unknown
- In a relationship with an HIV-positive partner
